Six down, six to go – 3 Mountain Madness

I doubled-up in May, doing two Year-Rounder rides. The second was the best organized ride I’ve ever done, and the hardest.

3 Mountain Madness is a 40-, 70-, or 95-mile ride that starts in the town of Pilot Mountain, NC, and goes in a circle through the mountains and foothills of Surry and Stokes counties. The 40-mile ride keeps to the foothills and cuts the loop a little short. The 70-mile ride makes the full circle, with trips up and down three mountains along the way: Sauratown Mountain, Hanging Rock, and the eponymous Pilot Mountain. The 95-mile ride adds 25 extra foothill miles to the 70-mile route, between Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain. I rode the 95-mile ride (of course).
