I was just tooling around on FaceBook (as has been my habit lately) and the ad in the left-hand column read as follows:

Looking for a Church?
If you are looking for a church that has awesome
people, great live music, and free food,
check out Northwest Community Church!

I’m sorry… that’s not a description of a “church”. That’s a description of a social club. Add “Tuesday drink specials” and it’s a description of a bar! If you’re looking for a church, I’d strongly recommend including “preaches the whole Word of God” and “strives to glorify God in all things” as top criteria. Good people, music, and food are all nice features, but you can find that just about anywhere without looking too hard, really. If you are looking for a church that looks like the world, you’re not looking for God, and you’re not likely to find Him there.
